Decision Maker: Cabinet
Decision status: Recommendations Approved
Is Key decision?: No
Is subject to call in?: No
The Council has previously signed the Armed
Forces Covenant in 2011. The landscape and the legislation around
the Armed Forces Covenant has since changed, including the
introduction of the Covenant Duty, which applies to WCC as a
'recognised body' under the Armed Forces Act (2006, as amended
2022). This report seeks approval of the pledges and reminds the
Cabinet of its renewed commitment to the Armed Forces
community.
Resolved
That Cabinet
1) Approves the Council’s new Armed Forces Covenant Pledge attached at Appendix 1; and
2) Authorises the Executive Director for Resources in consultation with the Portfolio Holder for Environment, Climate, and Culture to agree such minor modifications to the new Pledge as may be necessary from time to time.
