Warwickshire County Council currently only allow roadside memorials for 30 days following a road traffic accident. However, for the past 7.5 years, a memorial has been placed on the junction of Overwoods Road and Trinity Road, following an RTC that resulted in the loss of 3 lives; Dion Walker-Smith, Damian Stewart, and Maggie Stewart. The council have now served a notice for the removal of the memorial within the next 30 days, despite the fact that the memorial is not, in anyway, disrupting road-users or pedestrians, it is neatly maintained, and is an important reminder for people to drive safely.
We, the family of those who lost their lives, are sickened at the idea that the council wish to remove this memorial and cannot identify a valid reason for this.
